Dad Sports Network for iPad and iPhone · Last updated: September 29, 2026

The short version

  • The app has no accounts and no sign-in. We don't know who you are.
  • It contains no analytics, no trackers and no advertising. Its one outside library carries your live stream to the service you choose, and nothing else.
  • Your recordings, replay clips, teams and settings are stored on your device. Your video is never sent to us.
  • A little information reaches our server only when you choose it: a team page you publish, Share & Earn, or a club request from this website.
  • Photos access is add-only — the app can put a finished game into your library, and it cannot read what's already in there.

Who this covers

This policy explains how the Dad Sports Network app for iPad and iPhone ("DSN", "the app") handles information. Dad Sports Network is operated by OpenVIP, Inc. ("we", "us"), based in Arizona, United States.

The app is made for adults — parents, coaches, team managers and club volunteers — who film youth sports. It is not designed or directed to be used by children. See section 7 for how we treat footage of minors.

This policy covers the app. It does not cover other companies' services you may choose to send your video to, such as YouTube or Facebook. Those have their own policies.

What the app uses on your iPad or iPhone

iOS and iPadOS ask your permission before the app can use any of the following. You can grant or revoke each one at any time in Settings → Dad Sports. Everything here happens on your device.

PermissionWhat it's forWhere it goes
Camera Filming your game. The picture you see is the picture being recorded, with the scoreboard composited into it. Written to a file on your device. Nowhere else.
Microphone Recording game audio, from the device's own microphone or a microphone you connect. Into the same file on your device. Nowhere else.
Photos
(add only)
Saving a finished recording or replay clip to your photo library so it's easy to find and share. Your own photo library. The app cannot read, browse or search your library — add-only access does not permit it.
Local network Connecting up to three more of your devices to act as a scoreboard remote or an extra camera. Between your own devices, over your local network or directly device to device. An extra camera's video goes only to your main device. None of it reaches the internet.

If you decline a permission, the app keeps working as far as it can without it. Declining Photos, for example, does not put your recording at risk — the file is still written to the app's own storage on your device, where you can reach it through the Files app.

Where your recordings live

Everything the app creates or that you put into it is stored locally on your device:

  • game recordings, clean feeds and replay clips;
  • any video you import as a clip — player profiles, sponsor spots, intros;
  • team names, abbreviations, colors and any logos you import;
  • sponsor artwork and custom replay graphics;
  • your setup and preferences, such as sport, board design and period length.

Your recordings are reachable in two places: the Files app, under On My iPad (or On My iPhone) → Dad Sports, and — if you allow it — your Photos library.

Because this data lives on your device, it is subject to whatever backup you have set up. If your device backs up to iCloud or to a computer, your files may be included in that backup under Apple's terms, not ours. Deleting the app removes the data it stored in its own storage; anything already copied into Photos or moved elsewhere stays where you put it.

What we do not collect

As of the date at the top of this page, the app collects almost nothing — the exceptions are described in “Team pages”, “Share & Earn” and “The clubs form” below, and none of them involves your video or your location. To be specific, Dad Sports Network does not:

  • require or offer an account, login or profile;
  • include analytics, crash-reporting or measurement software;
  • include advertising, ad networks or any advertising identifier;
  • track you across apps, websites or devices, or build a profile of you;
  • collect your contacts, calendar or location, or read any Apple device identifier (Share & Earn uses a random number the app makes up — see below). We ask for a name and email address only from someone requesting an organization team page;
  • include third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code. The app’s one outside library, the open-source HaishinKit, carries your live stream to the service you choose and sends nothing anywhere else;
  • transmit your video or audio to a Dad Sports Network server. Team information leaves your device only if you publish a team page.

We do not sell, rent, share or trade personal information.

Apple may provide us with aggregate, anonymous App Store statistics — how many times the app was downloaded, for example, or crash counts if you have chosen to share diagnostics with developers in your iOS or iPadOS settings. That information comes from Apple, is not tied to you, and is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Live streaming

When you go live, the video and audio travel directly from your device to the streaming service you choose, such as your own YouTube channel or Facebook. They do not pass through, get copied to, or get stored by Dad Sports Network.

  • You connect your own channel by entering its stream key. The key is kept in your device’s Keychain, on that device only. We never receive it.
  • Once your video reaches YouTube or Facebook — that company’s terms and privacy policy govern what happens to it, including who can watch it. Choose your broadcast’s privacy setting there deliberately, especially when children are on camera.

Team pages

A team page is an optional DSN Pro feature: a page at dadsportsnet.com where a team’s families can watch its games. Nothing is sent unless you publish one in Setup → Team Page. When you do, the app sends our server:

  • the page address you pick, the team name, the season and the logo you choose;
  • the YouTube channel you enter, and your device’s time zone so game times show in the team’s own time;
  • the next game’s date and opponent, if you add them, and the team’s sport;
  • Apple’s signed record of your DSN Pro subscription, so we can confirm Pro. We keep the subscription’s transaction number so every device on your Apple ID can manage the page, along with a scrambled (hashed) copy of each device’s key.

Organization pages. For a club or organization name without a team age or level, we also ask for a contact’s name, role and email address. We use them only to confirm the request with the organization. They are emailed to us and kept with the request.

What the page shows. Anyone with the link can open it. It is hidden from search engines and shows the team name, logo, next game, and the public games on the YouTube channel you entered. Those games are read from YouTube when the page opens and play in YouTube’s player; we don’t copy the video. The page never shows player names, and anyone can report it from its footer.

DSN Community. Only if you switch on Feature our games in Setup → Team Page (it is off until you do), your team’s public YouTube games can be picked for dadsportsnet.com/community, a public page that search engines can list. Each Monday it features the most-watched games from the week before, showing the team name, the game’s own YouTube title, the sport, the date and the YouTube view count, with a link to the team page. Games play in YouTube’s player; we don’t copy them. Switch it off and your games come off that page right away. Anyone can report a game there, which takes it off the page until we review it.

Taking it down. Take a page down anytime in Setup → Team Page. We keep a record of the address so it is never given to a different team. To have a page’s information deleted completely, email [email protected].

Share & Earn

If you open Share & Earn in Setup, the app makes up a random identifier for your device — a number it invents, not your Apple ID, advertising identifier or serial number — and sends it to our server so we can hand you a referral code and count the friends who use it. The server stores that random identifier, your code, the code you entered (if any), and how many months you have earned. It does not store your name, email, location or anything about your video. Deleting all DSN data in Setup discards the identifier; the server record simply goes idle.

Rewards are Apple offer codes for our own subscription; redeeming one is handled by Apple under Apple’s terms.

The clubs form

The “Get a code for your club” form on this website asks for a club name and an email address so we can reply. We store those, with a hashed form of the sender’s IP address to spot floods, for up to 90 days, and email them to ourselves. Nothing from the form is shared, sold or used for marketing lists. Email [email protected] to have a request deleted.

Children and youth sports footage

This app exists to film youth sports, so the recordings it makes will contain images and voices of minors. We treat that seriously, so here is exactly how it works.

The app is for adults

Dad Sports Network is intended for use by adults — parents, guardians, coaches and team volunteers. It is not directed to children, is not designed for children to use, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone: there is no account and your video is never uploaded. The only form we have is the clubs request on our website, described below.

The footage is yours, and it stays with you

Recordings of a game — including any footage of minors — are created by you, written to your device, and stored there. We never receive that footage. We cannot view it, we cannot retrieve it, and we cannot delete it for you. If you later publish it or stream it to your own YouTube channel, you are the one publishing it.

Your responsibility before you film

Because we are not in the middle of any of this, the responsibility for filming appropriately sits with you. Before you record or publish, make sure you have:

  • permission from the parents or guardians of the children being filmed, in line with your club's rules;
  • permission from the league, rink, gym, school or venue — many have written media policies, and some prohibit filming outright;
  • a deliberate decision about where the video ends up, and who can see it. An unlisted or private stream is not the same as a public one.

Never film in locker rooms, changing areas, bathrooms or anywhere a person would reasonably expect privacy. This is also covered in our Terms of Service.

COPPA

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") governs the online collection of personal information from children under 13. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone and transmits nothing to us, there is no such collection to disclose. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal information, contact us at the address in section 13 and we will look into it immediately.

Other companies

The app itself contains no third-party code that collects data. You may, however, choose to hand your video to another company, and at that point their rules apply:

  • Apple — distributes the app, handles Photos and Files, and processes DSN Pro subscriptions. See Apple's privacy policy.
  • YouTube / Google — when you stream to your own channel, and when a team page plays your public games in YouTube’s player. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Facebook / Meta — when you stream to Facebook. See Meta's privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare — hosts this website and the small server behind team pages, Share & Earn and the clubs form, and delivers the emails those send us. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
  • Anyone you send a file to — once you AirDrop, message, upload or post a recording, it is out of the app and out of our hands.

Keeping it safe

The most effective privacy protection is collecting as little as possible, and that is the one we’ve chosen. Beyond that, your recordings are protected by your iPad or iPhone itself — your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and iOS or iPadOS file encryption. We strongly recommend using a passcode on any device that holds video of children.

No system is perfect, and we can't guarantee the security of a device we don't control. Keeping backups of games you care about is on you — we'd hate for a lost iPad or iPhone to be a lost season.

Your choices

  • Permissions — grant or revoke camera, microphone, Photos and local network access at any time in Settings → Dad Sports. Revoking the camera or microphone will stop the app from recording; revoking Photos only stops it from saving copies to your library.
  • Deleting recordings — delete them in the Files app under On My iPad (or On My iPhone) → Dad Sports, and in Photos if you saved copies there.
  • Team pages — take a page down in Setup → Team Page, or email us to delete its information.
  • Deleting everything — use Delete all DSN data in Setup, or delete the app. Either removes its local storage, including teams, logos, settings and stream keys.
  • Access, correction, deletion and portability requests — laws in some places, including the EU/UK and California, give you rights to request a copy of your personal information or ask that it be deleted. We hold very little: Share & Earn’s random identifier, any team page you publish, and any club request you send. Email [email protected] and we will send you a copy or delete it.

Accounts and subscriptions

DSN has no accounts. DSN Pro is a subscription sold by Apple through the App Store: Apple handles the payment, and we never see your card, your Apple ID or your name. The app checks your subscription with Apple on your device.

The only time your subscription leaves your device is when you publish a team page: the app sends Apple’s signed record of it so our server can confirm Pro (see Team pages). Manage or cancel DSN Pro anytime in your device’s Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top and bottom. Material changes — anything that means the app starts collecting something it doesn't collect today — will be reflected here before the version that does it is released.

Because the app has no account, we have no way to email you about a change. Checking this page is the reliable way to see where things stand.
